A turned-spindle mashrabiya panel in solid beech — the traditional lathe-turned baluster screen that gave old Cairo its shaded, private windows, hand-made in warm solid beech. Each spindle is turned individually on a lathe, then set into a top-and-bottom rail so the panel arrives as one rigid, ready-to-fix unit rather than loose parts. Rounded spindles create a soft, three-dimensional weave that flat cut-out lattice can't match — light catches the curve of every baluster instead of falling flat across a cut edge.

This is the authentic turned-spindle mashrabiya: breathable, privacy-giving and beautiful backlit. It works as a window screen over a stairwell or landing, a room divider between a kitchen and living space, a balustrade infill on an open staircase, a cabinet or wardrobe front, or a framed feature panel on its own. Beech takes a natural oil finish especially well, showing off the close, even grain the wood is known for.
Made to order in solid beech (other woods available on request): choose the panel size, the spindle spacing (tighter for more privacy, wider for more light), and the finish — natural, stained or painted. Supplied flat and ready to fix into an opening or frame yourself. Once ordered, it needs only an occasional dust or a dry wipe to keep its finish.
Made to order — send your panel dimensions and we'll confirm lead time and price with your quote.
