Three handcrafted lines that live alongside our brass lighting: hand-carved mashrabiya woodwork, signed handwoven wool tapestries, and furniture inlaid with mother of pearl. Different crafts, different workshops, one habit in common — everything is cut, woven or set by hand, so no two pieces come out identical.
Mashrabiya is the pierced wooden latticework of Arab architecture — screens, room dividers, doors, cabinet fronts and wall panels, cut and assembled by hand without nails. Each spindle is turned individually, which is why light through a mashrabiya panel never falls in a regular grid.
Egyptian Woven Tapestry is pictorial wall art: wool woven freehand on the loom, never copied from a cartoon, and signed by the weaver. Each piece is one of one.
Mother of Pearl Inlay is the Damascene tradition of setting shell and bone into wood. Mirrors, side tables, chests, wall shelves and backgammon boards, with every fragment of shell hand-cut to shape and laid one at a time — weeks of bench work behind a single mirror frame.
