A wall sconce puts the pattern right where you can see it. Mounted on the wall, a pierced brass sconce throws stars, arches and lattice up and down the wall around it, turning a plain hallway or bedroom wall into a feature. Every sconce here is solid brass, cut and pierced by hand, and most are designed to be hung in pairs, on either side of a bed, a mirror or a doorway.
Singles, Pairs and Sets
Several of our sconces are sold as matching pairs or sets, and others as a single fixture. The product title and page tell you exactly how many you receive. A pair gives a room balance: one either side of a headboard, a vanity mirror, a fireplace or a front door. A single sconce works well as an accent at the end of a hallway, beside a reading chair or over a small entry table.
Where to Mount Them
Beside a bed: mount each sconce just above the headboard and a little outside its edges, so the light falls on your book rather than in your eyes. It frees up the nightstand, too.
Around a mirror: place them either side of the mirror at roughly eye level, about 60 to 66 inches from the floor, so your face is lit evenly from both sides. In a bathroom, keep them well away from the shower and bath.
Hallways and stairs: around 60 inches from the floor works well, spaced every 8 to 10 feet along a hallway. On a staircase, keep each sconce the same height above the steps beneath it.

Sizes and Bulbs
The sconces range from compact 8-inch pieces for narrow spaces to around 19 inches for an entryway or a large blank wall. Some take a standard E26 bulb and others a smaller E14 bulb; each product page says which. Bulbs aren't included. A clear warm-white LED gives the sharpest pattern on the wall around the sconce, and a frosted bulb gives a softer glow.
Finishes
Some sconces come in four finishes, silver, gold, black or bronze, chosen with the selector on the product page. Others, including the black cutout designs, are made in the single finish shown in their photos. Every finish is applied by hand, so small variations are part of the piece. To clean, just dust with a soft, dry cloth. Polish and chemical cleaners can strip the finish.
Installation
Every sconce is hardwired and mounts to a standard wall junction box, like any ordinary wall light. If there's no wiring where you want one, an electrician can add a box. We recommend having a qualified electrician fit them. Every sconce comes with UL-listed wire.
