A whole Nile village across one great panel: sailing feluccas and swimming ducks on the river, women gathered on the rocks at the water's edge, herders driving goats, sheep and cattle along the bank, a laden camel and farmers among fruiting date palms, and above them the domed houses, the baker's oven and the village square.
- Size: 230 x 198 cm (91 x 78 in)
- Material: Handwoven wool
- Finish: Warp fringe
- One of a kind: woven freehand with no sketch or cartoon behind the warp, so no second copy exists. The photographs show this exact piece.
At this size it becomes the room's main event: a stairwell, a double-height wall, a long dining-room wall or a hotel lobby.
Hanging: the tapestry arrives without a sleeve or rod pocket. The simplest method is hook-and-loop tape sewn along the top edge, with the matching half fixed to a wooden batten on the wall. A clip rail also works, or a tailor can sew on a casing for a rod.
