Handwoven Egyptian Wall Hanging Tapestry
A whole village in one frame: domed and red-walled houses, palms and flowering trees on the skyline, a river busy with waterbirds, and camels, cattle, sheep and villagers filling the foreground.
This tapestry is woven entirely by hand on a traditional wooden loom in Egypt. What makes these weavings rare is the way they are made: the weaver works with NO prior sketch, no cartoon and no drawing of any kind behind the warp. Every tree, bird and figure is improvised straight onto the loom as the piece grows. Nothing is copied and nothing is repeated, so no two works are ever alike and each one is a true original rather than a reproduction.
