HANDWOVEN EGYPTIAN WOOL TAPESTRY — SIGNED SUNFLOWER FIELD WITH DOVES — ONE OF A KIND
A field of sunflowers at full height, woven entirely by hand: blooms of orange, gold, and honey-yellow turn their faces upward against a rose and lavender sky, while white doves fly between the tall stems and settle in the leafy bushes below. Every petal, leaf, and feather is woven freehand in the flat slit-tapestry technique — no printing, no machine, no pattern to copy, just dyed wool and the weaver's eye, line by line.
The piece is signed by the weaver in Arabic, woven directly into the fabric — the living tradition of Egypt's celebrated village tapestry weaving, whose finest works hang in museums worldwide. The same weaver's underwater scene is also in our shop.
HANDWOVEN — ONE OF ONE
An original textile artwork. The natural wool texture, slit-weave joins, and warp fringe at the edges are the signatures of true handweaving. Small irregularities are the hand of the artist, not flaws.
