A joyful handwoven Egyptian wool tapestry: a heavy-trunked tree loaded with scarlet fruit, white and grey doves perched through its branches and wading in the water below, with swifts crossing an apricot sky. It is the Tree of Life motif as the Harrania weavers tell it — no cartoon, no repeat, every bird given its own posture and colour.
Handwoven in dyed wool on cotton warp, worked freehand without a cartoon, so the composition is unrepeatable. Finished with a knotted fringe at both ends. Hangs well on a plain wall where the turquoise water and red fruit can carry the room, and works equally as a bed throw or a sofa back.
