A tall narrow Tree of Life panel: a copper-trunked tree spreading magenta blossom and green leaf, guinea fowl and doves feeding among the branches, and more birds swimming in the teal water at its base. The colour sits in an unusual register for Egyptian weaving — teal, plum, olive and apricot rather than the usual primaries — and it is all the better for it.
Wool on cotton warp, handwoven freehand, fringed at the lower edge. The narrow vertical format suits a pier between two windows, the end of a hallway, or a stairwell wall where a wide piece will not fit.
