A Moroccan mother of pearl inlay chest of drawers whose lid is set out in three inlaid panels — the detail that distinguishes it from its medallion-lidded counterpart. Built in beech and equally at home as a jewellery chest, it carries intricate hand-cut shell fitted into geometric patterns, with contrasting woods worked into the design.
The natural iridescence of the shell creates a shifting play of light across the wood, and because the inlay is set by hand, no two chests are alike. At 25 in long, 13 in deep and 15 in high it sits on a dresser, a console or a shelf rather than on the floor.
