This set of Celtic knot brass tiles gives you twenty different designs, one of each, among them trinity and endless knots, shield knots, spirals and more interlace. Laid five across and four high it forms a single sampler panel; split up, the tiles can be scattered through a plain wall.
Details
- Material: solid brass sheet about 1 mm thick, embossed by hand over a hand-punched ground
- Finish: aged bronze patina, sealed with wax
- Size: each tile is 10 x 10 cm (3.9 x 3.9 in)
- Depth: 6 mm, with a raised rim around each tile; the back is hollow and has a small hanger
- Comes as: one set of 20 tiles, each a different design
- Handmade: each piece is embossed to order, so relief and patina vary slightly from the photos
Sizes and coverage
There is one set: 20 tiles, one of each design. It covers 0.20 m² (2.2 sq ft), laid 5 across by 4 high as a 50 x 40 cm (19.7 x 15.7 in) panel. Tiles butted together. The tiles cannot be cut, so plan the layout around whole tiles.
Where to use it
- A grid of tiles above a desk, sofa or console
- A band behind a range or along the sink wall
- A small backsplash behind a coffee station or bar
- Accent tiles dotted through a plain kitchen backsplash
- Glued into cabinet doors, drawer fronts, trays or a tabletop
Installing and care
As tile, back-fill each piece with tile adhesive and press it onto a flat, clean wall, then grout or caulk when the adhesive has set. To use one as wall art, hang it from the small hanger on its back. Behind a cooktop, leave the clearance your cooktop maker asks for. Tiles cannot be cut, so work out the layout in whole tiles first. To clean, use a soft, damp cloth, then dry; abrasives and strong cleaners strip the patina.
