A chandelier is the one light in a room that everything else is arranged around. Ours are wide, multi-bulb fixtures in solid brass, pierced by hand, so when they're lit the whole ceiling and the upper walls fill with pattern. They're made for dining rooms, entryways, kitchens and living rooms, from an 18-inch piece for a small dining area up to a 39-inch fixture for a large or double-height room.
Choosing a Size
A simple starting point is to add the room's length and width in feet. The total is roughly the right diameter in inches, so a 10 × 12 foot dining room suits a chandelier of about 22 inches. Over a dining table, choose one noticeably narrower than the table, at least a foot less, so nobody knocks into it, and hang it 30 to 36 inches above the tabletop. In an entryway or anywhere people walk underneath, keep the bottom at least 7 feet off the floor.
- 18–21 inches: small dining rooms, kitchens and bedrooms.
- 24–28 inches: most dining rooms, entryways and open-plan kitchens. Several chandeliers come in 20, 24 or 28 inch sizes, chosen on the product page.
- 31–39 inches: large rooms, double-height halls and wide kitchens where a smaller fixture would look lost.
Most of our chandeliers are wide and fairly shallow, around 3 to 11 inches deep, so they suit ordinary 8-foot ceilings as well as tall ones.
Styles in the Collection
Classic pierced chandeliers ($325–$625) carry the traditional lattice, bell and medallion patterns and throw the strongest shadows.
Star chandeliers ($375–$500) are built around the star, the shape at the heart of Moroccan geometric design.
Jeweled chandeliers ($375–$574) have coloured glass stones set into the brass, so small points of colour glow alongside the pattern.
Statement pieces are for rooms that need scale. There's a 31-inch repoussé chandelier ($1,999), whose pattern is hammered up in relief from the back of the brass rather than pierced through, and a 39-inch chandelier ($2,800).

Finishes
Each chandelier is made in the finish shown in its photos: oxidized antique brass, black patina, oxidized bronze, copper-toned or polished brass, depending on the piece. The finish is applied by hand, so no two are exactly alike. The darker finishes let the pattern do the talking; polished brass glows gold even when the light is off. To clean, just dust with a soft, dry cloth. Polish and chemical cleaners can strip the finish.
Bulbs and Installation
Most of our chandeliers take two to five bulbs. Some use a standard E26 base and others the smaller E14; each product page says which. Bulbs aren't included. Warm-white LEDs bring out the brass, and a dimmer is well worth fitting, so the same chandelier can light a busy dinner or just cast pattern late in the evening. Every chandelier is hardwired to a standard ceiling junction box and comes with UL-listed wire. For the larger pieces especially, have a qualified electrician fit it.
