Feathery coral and navy trees fill a tall panel, with birds perched throughout, a small hut and waterbirds along the blue-grey water below.
This tapestry is woven entirely by hand on a traditional wooden loom in Egypt, in handspun wool coloured only with natural plant dyes. What makes these weavings rare is the way they are made: the weaver works with NO prior sketch, no cartoon and no drawing of any kind behind the warp. Every tree, bird and figure is improvised straight onto the loom as the piece grows. Nothing is copied and nothing is repeated, so no two works are ever alike and each one is a true original rather than a reproduction.
The natural dyes give deep, soft colours that age beautifully, never look printed, and are completely eco-friendly. The piece is signed by the artist in the weave.
