Two soft grey-blue geese rest among tall reeds and scarlet and orange blossoms, while small birds cross a pale rose sky. The artist's name is woven into the lower corner in Arabic.
This tapestry is woven entirely by hand on a traditional wooden loom in Egypt, in handspun wool dyed in deep, colorfast shades. What makes these weavings rare is the way they are made: the weaver works with NO prior sketch, no cartoon and no drawing of any kind behind the warp. Every tree, bird and figure is improvised straight onto the loom as the piece grows. Nothing is copied and nothing is repeated, so no two works are ever alike and each one is a true original rather than a reproduction.
The colours are deep and soft, they age beautifully and never look printed. The piece is signed by the artist in the weave.
